Sony add free access and two subscription options to superhero MMO
DC Universe Online has gone free-to-play, according to the official website.
Called Free Access, the f2p model will give PC and PS3 gamers access to the base game content, which includes Gotham City, Metropolis, and all the raids available prior to the DLC packs. Players are limited to two character slots but can still join a league.
Aside from the Free Access model there are two other models of access – Premium and Legendary. Premium Access requires that a person spend $5 on in-game items, which will then give them additional character slots and higher cash limits. The Legendary Access requires that players pay the standard $15-a-month fee in order to have full access to the game.
Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley said, “We are confident that going free-to-play will expand the action combat experience of DC Universe Online by making the game more accessible to every type of player so they can choose to play the game their way.”
The superhero-themed MMO was released on January 11.
