Trion Worlds are set to open up the Ember Isle for gamers to explore
PC Gamer reports that Rift, the fantasy-themed MMO, is getting ready for its 1.6 patch, which promises to add a lot more content. Developed by Trion Worlds, the game was released in March and was well-received by critics.
Since then the developer has been rather busy providing new content to their subscribers.
The latest patch will provide players with a whole new land called the Ember Isle which is, according to Rift lore, the original home to the Kelari Elves. Ember Isle will feature various bio domes from beaches to jungles with even a large volcano that players will be able to explore.
Design producer Hal Hanlin told PC Gamer that it would be roughly “twice the size of Shimmersand for playable space.”
The new land mass was developed with new sourcewells, where players can choose where they would mount a defense against invasions by Planar forces. Along with the invasion is a new Onlsaught system that will adjust the number of enemies and difficulty based on the fortification used around the sourcewells.
A new instance named Caduceus Rise will also be a part of the patch, which will provide a non-linear experience. The dungeon will have three modes and will allow people to explore the dungeon any way they want.
There will also be new Instant Adventures, which is an event that gathers large groups of gamers to rise above the challenges. Of course, players will be able to leave or join anytime they want.
No release date for patch 1.6 was announced.
