Ubisoft Montreal reportedly developing for next-gen systems
Edge reports that the next-generation of consoles could be out in late 2012.
According to an unnamed source the website reports that Ubisoft Montreal is currently working on “target boxes” which are PCs that contain the internal components that will be used in the next Xbox console. No specifications were given as to what the new console will be using except that an AMD GPU will be a part of it.
Ubisoft’s only reply has been that they “do not comment on rumor and speculation.”
Additionally, Edge also reported that a major studio owned by Sony ceased development for the PlayStation 3 and shifted focus to the latest console.
The website also speculates that consumers might see both next-gen consoles out late 2012.
Neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed anything about the next-generation consoles, aside from that they are developing the systems, nor have they commented on whether or not they are shooting for a 2012 release.
