New Pokemon game crosses over into Nobunaga’s Ambition series
At Japan’s Jump Fiesta, Nintendo announced a new Pokemon game, Pokemon X Nobunaga’s Ambition for the DS. The game, a result of a a team-up between the Pokemon Company and Tecmo Koei, looks set to bring a cross-over unlike anything Pokemon fans have yet experienced.
Andriasang provides some insights into the game from Jump Fiesta, but few details have been made available beyond the news it will be a strategy title. However, it appears it will be a departure from the typical Pokemon games. The site also provides some details on characters in the game, including two unnamed characters, one male and one female, who are both identified as the heroes and are shown with the Pokemon Eevee.
In the official trailer (in Japanese), some gameplay elements can be seen in addition to animated scenes. It also appears players will have direct control over the Pokemon during combat and will be able to move around the battlefield.
For those not familiar with Nobunaga’s Ambition, it is a series that has been around since before the Famicom and tasks players with achieving the status of Warlord and uniting a warring Japan. While the games have almost always been Japan-only, US gamers can pick up Nobunaga’s Ambition: Iron Triangle through the Wii’s Virtual Console.
The game is scheduled to release Spring 2012 in Japan. Currently, no details on an international release have been announced.
