New items and functions to coincide with relaunch
After more than a decade online, the MMO Everquest is going free-to-play. Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the game will be making the switch in early March.
SOE has not gone into detail on what kind of variation of the model they will be adopting – whether it will be something similar to Everquest 2 or something new – but they have announced some events, updates, and gifts for players to coincide with their conversation.
It will launch extra events leading up to the game’s 13th birthday on March 16. They will introduce new items in the store as well as revamp the Everquest website and bring in a new EQPlayers page. New updates to the map system will also be released to improve its functionality. This includes displaying appropriate level content as well as showing wisps on the map to help guide players.
When the games officially goes free-to-play, players will receive a Welcome Pack that will include a mercenary to help you with content, experience potions to help you level up your character faster, and additional items to display in your character’s home.
