Experienced devs combine to make Police Warfare a reality
Following the huge trend set by other small developers, new studio Elastic Games has created a Kickstarter page for its new PC game Police Warfare, according to a report on Eurogamer.
Originally rumored by fans to be a Call of Duty title, Police Warfare combines the mechanics of a military shooter with a Cops and Robbers theme.
The Police Warfare Kickstarter page says, “Players will go toe-to-toe as either a member of the Los Angeles Police SWAT team, or the opposite side of the law, robbing banks as an armed gunman.”
The game’s focus on mobility is one of the unique features planned for Police Warfare. The game includes a system that will let players safely rappel from large buildings and helicopters while maintaining the ability to aim and shoot.
The developer said that it is drawing inspiration from Battlefield 1943 for the majority of its combat mechanics. Its goal is to make Police Warfare a high-quality downloadable shooter. It wants players to have the option to experience the game in smaller chunks.
Elastic Games is a new development team comprised of people who have worked on titles such as Grand Theft Auto 4, Killzone 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2.
With 31 days remaining to reach its goal, Elastic Games has plenty of time left to reach its goal. At the time of going to press, 508 backers have pledged $15,554 of the game’s stated $325,000 goal. If the company exceeds its goal, it will release the game on 360 and PS3 as well.
