However, Elastic Games confirm that the game is not canceled
Elastic Games has canceled its Kickstarter funding campaign for Police Warfare. However, the game itself is not canceled.
Through Kickstarter, the company had 784 backers who had pledged $25,025 of its $325,000 goal when the process was halted.
On the update page, the company said, “Thank you so much for the incredible response to the game. We’re shutting down the Kickstarter account but this is by no means the end of Police Warfare. News will be coming.”
It is currently unknown where the rest of the funding for the game will be coming from.
While backers who pledged money hoping this title would be released have some assurance that the project is not over, this situation may raise questions about Kickstarter in general.
Dent said, “It is not actually an investment in the legal sense of the word. The contributor is actually buying something to be part of the game.”
The contributor is putting their money down along with their faith that the project with be finished; let alone be a good game.
Kuchera said, “I’m going to go ahead and call it: we’re a few months away from the first Kickstarter scam or controversy. There is too much money at stake and too little critical thinking at the moment… Be skeptical of every project, as if you were investing, not just backing.”
