The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to!
Chris Root - I’ll be finishing up Prototype 2 (if I haven’t already), then delving back into The Witcher 2. I also plan on touring my local convenience stores wearing a balaclava, just to see what kind of reactions I get.
Phil Nachum, @philpee2 - I’ll be trying out the beta for Hybrid. It looks to be doing something really interesting with the multiplayer shooter formula, and I’m really excited to try it out. Other than that, I’ll probably try to get through some more of The Witcher 2.
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight - I won’t be playing much this weekend. Rather I’ll be going to my other favorite hobby which is reading. With all the buzz about The Hunger Games movie I decided to start reading the books to see if it’s as good as Battle Royale (I read the novel, manga, and watched the live-action movies for this Japanese story). But if I do decide to take a break then I’ll be playing Legend of Grimrock which I am absolutely in love with right now.
Tony Zuniga, @Boots_33 - I’m finally going to dive into The Witcher 2 this weekend. I was going to wait before starting another big RPG, but the talk of this one finally got to me. Outside of that, I’ve also been dabbling into some old SNES titles. Yoshi’s Island is my current pick on there. Otherwise, more job search, more TV, more burritos!
Nate Hales, @nhales80 - I’ve decided I am going to stop telling you I am playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Just assume I am playing it forever, or at least until I say I’m not. I may also slay some zombies in Left 4 Dead 2 if a certain bear and a couple Canadians are looking to play. I’ve taken a week off of JRPGs, but it’s time to get back to the adventures of Asbo (Asbel) in Tales of Graces f.
Aaron Carlisle, @acidbrn - With DoDonPachi Resurrection now in my hands from the talented publishers at Rising Star Games (Thank you, thank you, thank you for making it region free!) I can die happy, or at least stare blankly at the screen till I start convulsing from all pink bullets. When I finally awaken I’ll spend some time with the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, and maybe if the time is available to me, I’ll attempt to complete a few rounds in Trials Evolution.
James Gardiner, @keltar93 - I’d like to give the responsible answer and say that with finals coming up I won’t be playing anything this weekend, but I know that’s not true. I’ll be continuing through L.A. Noire, as well as spending more time with my newly reunited friend Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. And of course, I’ll always make time for Team Fortress 2, since I’ll finally be crossing the 100 hour mark.
Marcus Mac Dhonnágain, @M_M_DH - This weekend I’ll be doing nothing but studying… Ha! Who am I kidding? I’ll be playing a little bit more of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I’m beginning to understand the complaints that were leveled at Grand Theft Auto IV in terms of its lack of variety. There’s certainly a lot to do in San Andreas and there’s a lot of variety in terms of the environments. I do think that GTA 4′s story is more grounded and believable but I do hope that Grand Theft Auto V will take some of its inspiration from GTA: San Andreas.
Sam Neal, @SnealIV, (SteamID: KungFooJebus) - This weekend I vow to finally obtain my 100% completion rating in Bastion. I am currently on my fourth playthrough and (through fault of having to change consoles) have but two achievements left. When I’m not playing Bastion (or celebrating the end of finals through other bibulious means) I will be exploring more of Super Monday Night Combat. The game is interesting so far, and I think it will improve once I am playing with people I know. So feel free to join me in it.
Jonny Neeves, @Jonny_Neeves - Just completed Brutal Legend, which I thoroughly enjoyed, despite the genre not exactly being something I easily connect with. Will finally be indulging in a little bit of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed after having promised myself that I’d get round to it eventually. I dislike most of the films by George Lucas – I liked Irvin Kerschner’s Empire Strikes Back – but the Extended Universe has always held my interest so I’m fully expecting an enjoyable romp killing Wookiee and the like. Apart from that, I might finally venture into Mass Effect 3 territory. I think I’d used the word scared for how I feel about it at the moment, purely because the previous two were such well-realized games and with such a grand scope. However, I’m sure that it’ll be an interesting adventure, as long as I put all the day one DLC and disputes to one side!
Richard Hayden, @HaydenOnP2R - I’m spoilt for choice this weekend. I’m looking forward to testing out the Euro 2012 DLC for Fifa 12, which will allow me to take to the field in national colors for a change. Once I have guided England to their usual first-round tournament exit, I’ll continue my journey through The Witcher 2‘s Northern Kingdoms. More specifically, I’ll be having my arse handed to me by the game’s tough combat system. If the thrashings in soccer and RPG all become too much for me, well, I’ll probably turn to Trials Evolution, although that can hardly be described as gentle therapy.
Kayla Bourque, @tiltinatwindmil - Trials Evolution and World of Warcraft are at the top of my list this weekend. Since getting Trials to review I’ve become firmly addicted and have some gold medals to achieve and tracks to forge! I’ve also got my old, ancient computer up and running and have been showing my fiancee the ropes of Warcraft.
Randy Lamberson, @RandyOnP2R - Even though I couldn’t bring myself to finish the first entry to the series – because of repetition….oh the repetition!!! – I will be playing Prototype 2. So far it is better then the original but I have a sinking feeling it may end up like the first. However I am enjoying it so far so here’s hoping. Also I may pick up the Walking Dead game. I love the series and would like to see some back story into one of the greatest shows of all time. Plus it is one game my wife would probably watch me play.
Aenne Schumann, @PeachyAenne - For this wonderful sunny weekend I do hope to go for a hike (gasp!). But that’s not a video game! Don’t you worry your pretty little head, there will be plenty of Witcher 2. There will be many struggles with Geralt and I will end up getting him killed over and over and over again, because I’m terrible at this game. I do hope to play more Dungeon Siege 3 this weekend as well, although I might need an energy drink or two to keep me awake while playing.
Graham McCann, @GrahamSMcCann - I will probably try to finish Silent Hill 2 on the HD collection for PS3. Other than that, I will probably play some Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter X Tekken, and maybe Twisted Metal with friends (after we go out to an awesome all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant called Zen in Edmonton. If you are in the area on a weekend, try it out… Delicious!). And I will also be waffling about whether or not I should buy Prototype 2…
