The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to!
This time around we have something special for those of you who are getting into the conversation this weekend. For anyone who comments on this article, we’ll be offering you a chance to receive a free copy of Minecraft on the Xbox 360. Just let us know what you’ll be playing (and maybe tweet the article if you’re feeling extra helpful) and you’ll be set! Those who are eligible must have an Xbox LIVE Silver membership account and must enter before 23:59 PST Sunday, May 13, 2012. Good luck!
UPDATE: Thanks to all who entered! The winner has been selected and will be contacted shortly.
Aaron Carlisle, @acidbrn - Day One: I have arrived in an unknown land, following the map that tells of untold treasures awaiting for those who search hard enough. Upon entering the forest I could feel the cold beady eyes of some unknown creatures staring me down. I can sense it creeping closer, waiting to ambush me. I will call this thing a creeper. I should set up camp as soon as possible, the quicker I get into shelter the better.
Day Two: My camp has been set up and I now have a base of operations, I built a crafting table before I laid down to rest for the night. It will allow me to build many of my father’s tools that he left me the designs for. The only materials available to me were some sticks that I gathered from punching a nearby tree, my fist already hates me for it. If I am to explore the nearby cave I will need all the tools I can get. Fire as well is a priority if I am to make any progress. I have a long day ahead of me and already I can feel the chill of the night on my back. And those creepers, I know they are out there.
Oh I’m sorry you mean there were other games released this week besides Minecraft on the 360?
Tyler Zehner, @TylerZehner - Just when I thought I had waned myself off of the addictive PC block-building drug that is Minecraft, Notch goes and makes an XBLA version. It’s too good though… and if I don’t figure out a way to stop myself from wasting these precious hours making little to no progress, you’re going to see me on the next season of Intervention trying to convince people that I can quit whenever I want to. I can’t…
James Gardiner, @keltar93 - Since I’ll be on vacation, I’ll be separated from both PC and console. Thus, my gaming time will be devoted to old portable favorites. Metroid Fusion and Super Mario World will make up the entirety of my gaming time.
Randy Lamberson, @RandyOnP2R - I will be playing a game that came out of left field for me and hit me on the head. That game is StarHawk, a futuristic-western third person shooter. The game’s interesting settings and the ability to control transforming mechs has me hooked already. That is just the singleplayer. Because I am doing a review – and because it’s a blast – I will be spending a massive amount of time in the multiplayer. If you want to join me hit my up on PSN under the username BusterBean and look for my full review soon.
Graham McCann, @GrahamSMcCann - I will probably be playing a bit more of Sniper Elite V2 for 360. I also will try to finish Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3 so I can finally get onto Arkham City. (I know, shameful I didn’t even finish the first one). Another thing is Driver: Francisco. I came across the PC version for $10 at Futureshop, and I also bought a new 360 controller with a PC adapter so the game can actually be played well — it sucks with keyboard/mouse.
Phil Nachum, @philpee2 - Having finally finished exams, I’ll finally get back into The Witcher 2. Not a whole lot else to say about it, other than it’s awesome, and that I wish I could’ve had more time to play it.
Jonny Neeves, @Jonny_Neeves - Having finished Mass Effect 3 and been in the minority of absolutely loving the ending, I thought I’d try Arkham City. It seems I’m once again in the minority, as I’m just not enamored with it thus far. I’ll likely try and complete it over the weekend, but suffice to say I prefer the linearity of Arkham Asylum to the open world of Arkham City. I think Rocksteady deserve the credit they’ve received for taking a risk and venturing into pastures new, but I just can’t get into this game. I’ve also challenged my friends to a 24-hour F1 Formula One 2011 challenge, which I’m really looking forward to despite the feeling that I’ll be a wreck by the end.
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight - I’m hanging up the bow and arrows as I will be switching from Clinkz to Riki in DOTA 2. While both rely on stealth to give them a leg up on the enemy Riki is a tougher character to use since he is melee. This means I will have to get close and personal to my enemies as I stab them in the back. But to help take out his enemies this particular character has a smokescreen which slows down his target and sliences them so that they can’t cast any spells. So before the weekend is over my blade will be dripping with the blood of my enemies! *disappears in a puff of smoke*
Nate Hales, @nhales80 - Maybe this is the weekend I finally finish Heavy Rain… probably not because MINECRAFT IS OUT ON 360. Yep, I love it on PC and I am going to see how it holds up on console. I might take a break from it to continue the quests of Asbo (Asbel), but if history is any indication, that is a long shot.
Chris Root - Now that I’ve gotten 100% on FEZ it’s time to seriously get back to the Witcher 2. Also, I just downloaded Minecraft on the XBLA, but I haven’t had the guts to try it yet. If it’s as addictive as everyone says, my neighbors may discover my emaciated corpse clutching a controller in a week or so after noticing a strange smell coming from my abode. Wish me luck…
Sam Neal, @SnealIV - Revisiting the nostalgia that I never had as a child for Secret of Mana. I never owned a SNES growing up, but I somewhat recently obtained one and I am going back to play all of the great Super Nintendo games that I missed. My friend and I are fervently working our way through Secret of Mana together, and having an absolute blast doing so. The game has a combat style unlike any I have ever seen before; yet it came out 2 years after I was born. I’m about half way through, and it’s already my all-time favorite Final Fantasy game.
