The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to!
Phil Nachum, @philpee2 - In an attempt to catch up on my backlog, I’ve been playing through Batman: Arkham City, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit so far. I find some of the stealth sections pretty frustrating, but swinging around the city and collecting Riddler trophies is a lot of fun. Having a mini puzzle attached to every collectible is genius, and it makes collectibles really enjoyable.
Richard Hayden, @HaydenOnP2R - Having plucked Lost Odyssey, Too Human and Bayonetta from the bargain bins lately, you’d think I’d be working my way through at least one of these titles. No chance. Not one has so much as touched the disk tray. To increase the burden on my creaking backlog I have also picked up the Humble Indie Bundle V (eight games; all classics). None of these will get much play time this weekend either because, and it’s probably time to seek professional assistance now, I remain addicted to Minecraft.
Marcus Mac Dhonnagáin, @M_M_DH - I have my painkillers and pistols prepared as I ready myself to continue my playthrough of Max Payne 3 on Hard. It is difficult, but the gameplay feels so intuitive and so well made that I really don’t mind slogging through it. Other than that I might start a new playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins but instead play it on Easy to avoid my frustrations with it.
James Gardiner, @keltar93 - Since I’m taking an extended separation from my laptop, I’ll be working through some 360 games. I’m currently playing through the quite good Transformers: War for Cybertron, and I’ll likely begin Shadows of the Damned once I’ve finished.
Kayla Bourque, @tiltinatwindmil - After quite a bit of headscratching and settings changes I have made my Diablo III play at a decent enough level to enjoy myself! However, if I feel the need to hang up my battle axe I was planning on finishing one of the games I got last year after E3 in preparation of the next swarm over the holidays. Man, gaming is such hard work guys.
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight - I’m going to be on a DOTA 2 binge this week now that Valve has opened up their store and have the loot drop system like Team Fortress 2. While only about a dozen of the heroes have items available to them I am curious to see if I will get lucky in my drops. On top of that I want to start raising my level by gaining Battle Points. I just wish that the heroes I used would get some cool cosmetic items soon. I tend to play Shadow Shaman, Clinkz, Slardar, Rikimaru, and Skeleton King. If they don’t get anything soon then I might try some of the heroes who do have items available like Nature’s Prophet or Sven.
Chris Root - I have come to the realization that I’m really bad at this. You would think I’d be better at predicting my own activities just a day or two in advance, but the last two weeks I’ve been almost completely wrong. This week, however, I’m quite sure what I’ll be playing. I’m going to finish the campaign on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and play through Harley Quinn’s Revenge. If there’s still time, I’m going to play Heavy Rain again, as the E3 info on Beyond: Two Souls got me thinking about it. Hmmm… perhaps I’ll download Indigo Prophecy for next weekend…
Graham McCann, @GrahamSMcCann - I will probably be playing some of my favorite parts of Max Payne 3 for PC. I love that game, the physics, graphics, voice work, and writing are all awesome. Of course, some Diablo III. And perhaps a game I have yet to finish (Arkham Asylum, Mass Effect, Infamous, Resistance… the list goes on).
Melissa Kay, @THEquadskater - If I play anything this weekend it will be minecraft with my pals. However I’ll be very busy marathoning Trueblood season 4 in preparation for the start of season 5 on Sunday!
Anton Wegenast, @VirusSixZero - Like Richard, I also picked up Humble Bundle V. I’ve played all the games except Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery, but the inclusion of the fantastic Lone Survivor may split my time. Diablo 3 will probably happen as I party up with some pals, and delve into Tristram. On the console side of things, leveling up in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer has proven more time consuming than I thought. I still need to bash some Reaper skulls in order to give my war assets the fighting chance they deserve. Lastly I have been wanting to play the Jak & Daxter HD Collection lately. Is there a bad case of that going around? Those were some of my favourite PS2 games, and now I get trophies for reliving the experience!
Tyler Zehner, @TylerZehner - The Humble Indie Bundle V will force me to put down my console controller for the weekend. Although I’ve played most of what is featured in the bundle, it’s still a fantastic way to support Child’s Play and the developers who create these awesome games. Make sure you check it out!
Sam Neal, @SnealIV - I recently recieved a download code for Company of Heroes, so I will check it out this weekend if I can make it through the reported 10 hour download time. I have never played Company of Heroes before, but have heard many great things about the game. My only previous experience in the RTS genre was playing Age of Empires 2 with my friends eons ago; so any change in structure for RTS games is still a new experience for me.
Marc Lynch, @MarcOnP2R - I finally got started on a new playthrough of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and I can’t understand how I was able to stop the first time. I love the dark, near-future atmosphere that comes across in the aesthetics of the game. I might be able to pull myself away from Deus Ex long enough to build a new outpost in Minecraft or kill some Reapers in ME3, but it’s likely a slim chance.
