The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight – This is going to be a hectic and busy weekend for me. Most of my time will be devoted to playing Gemini Wars while I hope to keep slipping in one or two games of DOTA 2. I’m currently level 4 and have been messing around with heroes such as Zeus and Slardar. Two heroes I have never used before. So far so good but I’m still waiting for some items to be released for my favorite heroes! Speaking of items I currently have an assortment of about 22 items including 7 chests which are just sitting in my inventory tempting me to buy some keys in order to open them. Must…resist…purchase!!!
James Gardiner, @keltar93 – After finishing the excellent Transformers: War for Cybertron, I now find my completionist tendencies calling to me. I’m currently making my way through Batman: Arkham City‘s New Game + mode, as well as polishing off the numerous challenge rooms.
Marcus Mac Dhonnagáin, @M_M_DH – After saying that I’d start a new playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins last week, you’d presume I’d be right in the middle of it picking up loot, killing some Darkspawn and doling out gifts to Morrigan like there was no tomorrow… Well, things didn’t go exactly to plan as I was distracted by Skyrim! So instead of doing anything with Dragon Age I’ll instead be sneaking about and completing odd jobs for the Thieves Guild. Aside from that I also be playing Max Payne 3‘s multiplayer mode, which I have developed an addiction for.
Chris Root – I’m pleased to report that my predictions last week were spot on… I beat the campaign on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and tore through Harley Quinn’s Revenge. On top of that, not only did I replay Heavy Rain, I got the platinum trophy! (Please… no applause. Just send money.) This weekend is all about cleaning up my backlog. I’ll be foraging for sarcophagi to get the last achievement in Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, then (finally) finishing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Aaron Carlisle, @acidbrn – Let me sing you a little song…
Crazy way he thrills me
Tell you why
Just like a lightning from the sky
He loves to kiss me
‘Till I can’t see straight
Gee, my Lollipop is great!
I call him…
Oh Lolli Lolli Lolli
Oh Lolli Lolli Lolli
Oh Lolli Lolli Lolli
Jonny Neeves, @Jonny_Neeves – Like Marcus, I seem to have developed a slight addiction for anything Max Payne Multiplayer related, so it’s taken a great deal of energy to depart from that for a while and to try and breeze through some of the games in my backlog. Currently, I’m playing BioShock 2 and I guess it’ll take me through the weekend and into next week. It really shouldn’t take that long but I’ve heard incredible things about its DLC, Minerva’s Den, so I’m very tempted to purchase that as well. Not much can be said about Rapture that hasn’t already been said, but I’d go as far as to categorically state that its the most well realised environment in any video game. As for other possible games that I might delve in and out of, well there’s always I Am Alive which I recently downloaded. Having noticed how varied its reviews were, I’d be interested into whether it’s one of the best XBLA games or one of the worst, like a few reviewers have suggested.
Tyler Zehner, @TylerZehner – My weekend is going to be filled with nothing but Lollipop Chainsaw, so I will be in a lollipop lollipop Oh lolli lolli lolli lollipop lollipop mood the entire weekend. I’m going to go on record and say that’s a good thing.
Aenne Schumann, @PeachyAenne – I don’t know exactly how much gaming I’ll get in this this weekend because of the Euro 2012. I’ll be cheering on my favorite teams, England and Germany. However, when I’m not starting soccer riots in the street I’ll be chilling with Adam Jensen. After a good look through my backlog, I stumbled upon Deus Ex again. I know Jensen never asked for any of this, but come on bro, it’s time to finally beat your game and move on.
Nate Hales, @nhales80 – Hmm, well I am playing the “Work from home for the weekend” game. It’s not that exciting and the mechanics are all messed up. Frankly the graphics are a little weak and the one environment (my living room) gets tired after a few hours. The characters are interesting enough, but the end goal is somewhat silly and convoluted. Also, the pay off when you reach the end is completely underwhelming (you go back to work on Monday). Aside from the occasional Minecraft and Diablo breaks, the game would be totally infuriating. I would give it a 3.5/10
Randy Lamberson, @RandyOnP2R – I recently picked up Dragon’s Dogma so I assume my weekend will consist of traveling from one castle to the next. I am serious, the world is huge and there is no quick travel. It literally took me two real-life days to escort some jerk from one castle to the next. Along the way I got the snot beaten out of me by everything that felt like my face needed rearranging. I also picked up Lollipop Chainsaw, and I plan on getting the “Peeped under Juliet’s skirt once” achievement (yes that’s really an achievement).
Anton Wegenast, @VirusSixZero – This weekend I will be descending into madness again with Diablo III. I may also play through Amnesia: The Dark Descent again. I’m hoping to blow through some missions in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and get some time with the fantastic multi player. It may be a bit ambitious, but I’m also hoping to spend time with Battlefield 3 and the new expansion.
Richard Hayden, @HaydenOnP2R – So, regular readers will recall that I have been picking up older games at an astonishing rate over the past few weeks. Nostalgic old fool, you say. And you would be right if I actually ever played any of them. However, joining Bayonetta, Lost Odyssey and Too Human on my pile of neglect is last week’s Humble Indie Bundle V. So, I’ve stopped buying older classics, haven’t I? Er, no… copies of SimCity 2000 and Outcast left the digital shelves at gog.com earlier this week to nestle on my hard drive where they will likely be ignored in favor of my continuing progress through Witcher 2 (still) and the evergreen Minecraft.
Sam Neal, @SnealIV – I have recently joined the Press2Reset Minecraft world, and have taken to recreating interesting architectural structures throughout history and fiction. This weekend I hope to create Tony Stark’s house from Iron Man, and incorporate flying buttresses and Gothic architecture into my current home.
Provided a rogue creeper doesn’t convince me otherwise.
Melissa Kay, @THEquadskater – This weekend I plan on organizing all my Pokemon cards into sleeves and a binder. So excited! You have no idea how therapeutic that sounds to me. I also plan on going through all my games and downsizing. I am not a collector of games save for my Collector’s Edition of Mass Effect 3… which… I love and hate all at the same time.
