The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to.
Chris Root – I’ll be mopping up the last few morsels of LEGO Batman 2 in preparation for writing a review. Then, I’ll be delving into the realm of mediocrity, as I wound up buying four of the games XBL had on sale this week; Perfect Dark Zero, Alone in the Dark, Blazing Angels and Kameo. Sure, none of them are supposed to be very good, but they were also pretty darned cheap, so it was worth it, right? Right?!
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight – Now that I’ve submitted my review for a particular game I’ll be diving back into DOTA 2 and hopefully some DayZ over the weekend. In DOTA 2 I’ve been playing as Zeus and doing pretty good with him by winning 20 of the 30 games. Best win/loss ration of any other hero I’ve played so far. Not easy to do when all I’m playing are public matches. Could be that I am finally playing with skilled players now that my level is at 8. But I think I’ll stick with Zeus for the rest of the weekend before using another Hero. I’m also going to play some DayZ as well. Haven’t been able to play it all week and I’m dying to see how well I do now that spawning has become tougher with the latest update. Seriously, no weapon to start with whatsoever!? Might as well run through all the towns naked with a sign over my head that reads “EAT ME!!!”
Aaron Carlisle, @acidbrn – While it has been a slow week of gaming, I have once again jumped into the Ransei region with Pokemon Conquest. Having played through a good chunk of the Japanese version it is nice to finally fully understand what’s going on. Never content to let a moment without zombies go by, I have been surviving once again in Left 4 Dead 2. When not avoiding Boomer bile and getting humped in the face by Jockeys I’m lopping heads off resulting in a shower of rainbows in Lollipop Chainsaw. Also downloaded Pig and Bullet by indie developer Spiceworx from the Xbox 360 Indie Arcade.
Richard Hayden, @HaydenOnP2R – So, I finally managed to get my obsession with the Gog.com back catalogue under control this week. Well, apart from picking up Caesar III and two free Ultima games. Oh, and Alone in the Dark 1, 2 and 3 (they were on sale!). But that was it. Nothing else. Just the, ahem, six games. But, in a break from recent weeks, I am actually playing some of these newly acquired games. SimCity 2000 and Caesar III took a big bite out of my Minecraft commitments earlier this week and I even fired up long-forgotten (and never played) Neverwinter Nights. The latter really caught my attention so it will be that and the Mojang behemoth vying for my attention forthwith.
Randy Lamberson, @RandyOnP2R – After beating Lollipop Chainsaw in one day, it has been a slow week in gaming.I recently started a second playthrough of From Dust which I plan to finish this weekend. Aside from that I will probably join up with Aaron to battle our way through hordes of zombies in Left 4 Dead 2.
Anton Wegenast, @VirusSixZero – I will be making a push for the finale of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. I’m close to the end of the campaign, and I’m doing well, unlocking the challenges as I go. I will also return to New Tristram this weekend for some Diablo III action now that the 1.0.3 patch is all loaded up. Other than that, I may dip my toes into Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, and some of the other free games that are on PSN right now for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
James Gardiner, @keltar93 – After too much delay, I’m finally working my way through the Dead Space games. I’m two-thirds through the first and thoroughly enjoying it, and I’ll be moving on to the second soon. Along with that, I’ll likely dip further into Shadows of the Damned, complemented by my new local multiplayer joy, WWE All Stars.
Aenne Schumann, @PeachyAenne – You guys, I’ve had a terribly hard week in gaming. I struggled to get through Strategic War in Europe, and when I wasn’t trying to win WW2 I was busy replanting my sakura forest in Minecraft. You’d think that after such a disappointing week I’d just relax for the weekend. But, nope, I’m going to just continue on the unsatisfying week. I’m going to figure out how to be the ultimate master of strategy in Europe and continue being the Johnny Appleseed of Minecraft.
Nate Hales, @nhales80 – Well I had planned to really dive deep into The Last Story again but then something happened. The Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut is coming. That means I need to get my readiness back to a reasonable level. Also, I am in dire need of more and more Minecraft. There is a project to begin and I aim to be a part of it.
Marcus Mac Dhonnagáin, @M_M_DH – I’m going to continue my adventures through the magical realm of Skyrim, but I’m also starting an entirely new playthrough of Mass Effect, which will be my definitive playthrough for Mass Effect 3. Other than that I’ll also try to dabble in some Max Payne 3 as well, though I have a lot on my plate with Skyrim and Mass Effect pulling at my heels!
Graham McCann, @GrahamSMcCann – I’ve finished Lollipop Chainsaw already, but I might replay some areas of the game. It’s really quirky fun and I am surprised I liked it so much. I will also be playing Deponia in preparation for a review.
Melissa Kay, @THEquadskater – I will be consumed by two things this weekend: Pokemon Conquest and Mass Effect 3. With the news on the release of the Extended Cut DLC I’ve decided to put myself through the pain and emotional agony to do a full, second playthrough until reaching the recommended section of the game to get the most out of the EC.
Marc Lynch, @MarcOnP2R – This weekend I’ll be putting on my work gloves and overalls to get my farm on with ActaLogic’s Agricultural Simulator: Historical Farming 2012 (yeah, you heard me). GameAccess (Canada’s mail-in game rental service) has recently cleared up my account and started sending me games again, too. I’ve just received Grandia XTREME (much to the envy of Aenne) and have started working my way through that too. Other than that I’m hoping to finish up my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and Devil Survivor Overclocked.
