The question that comes around every weekend: What are you playing? We at Press2Reset already know what we’ll be doing but how about you? Check out our staff’s picks for the weekend and let us know what you’ll be up to.
Sean Knight, @SeanDKnight – I’m going to step away from DOTA 2 in order to play a new sci-fi strategy game called Endless Space. Think of it as Civilization in space with its turn-based strategy elements where I take control of one of the eight races in order to try and dominate through trade, diplomacy, technology, or by downright conquering everyone I come across (guess which path I’ll be going down). So far I seem to be enjoying the game but will also try and sneak in some time for Minecraft while I’m at it.
Chris Root – I’ll be continuing my quest to find (and kill) a Legendary Dragon in Skyrim… it’s the only achievement I have left, and I won’t stop until I’ve gotten it. Then I’ve been thinking it’s time to return to Arkham City. Those thugs aren’t going to beat themselves up, you know…
James Gardiner, @keltar93 – I should be finally finishing up Dead Space 2 shortly, which means I’ll finally be able to play through BioShock, a game I’ve played through the opening of several times but never the rest of it. Plus, since I have my laptop on me again I’m going to work through some of the Humble Indie Bundle games – Super Meat Boy and Braid are up next.
Tyler Zehner, @TylerZehner – My weekend is going to be filled with Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 and the recently released Resident Evil 6 demo. Magic is absolutely fantastic and I’m completely addicted, but the RE6 demo is a pretty big disappointment. However, I’m ready to give the demo another shot, so all you hardcore fans can put away your pitchforks and torches… at least for now.
Randy Lamberson, @RandyOnP2R – San Diego Comic Con is coming up next week, so my plans for the weekend include answering tons of emails as well as packing for the event. In terms of games there hasn’t been to many releases that have peaked my interest. Recently I picked up Black Ops so I can play Nazi Zombies with my little brother. Also Left 4 Dead 2 has been spinning in my console recently so I may hit up a few versus rounds. Looks like zombies will fill up most my gaming sessions. I would like to find a good PC game to keep me company after a long day at SDCC, because you know, going five days without games would be impossible.
Phil Nachum, @philpee2 – I’ve been playing more Rayman Origins and I’m thoroughly hooked. In fact, I think it might be my first Platinum Trophy. Getting those speed trophies will be quite the challenge, though.
Anton Wegenast, @VirusSixZero – I will be delving into the heart of darkness with Spec Ops: The Line this weekend. I am thoroughly enjoying the journey through Dubai, and the darkness that pervades this fantastic title. I will lighten things up with occasional dips into Minecraft, although I will likely also delve into the calculating and plodding pace of Sniper Elite V2. I finally beat Mass Effect 3 this week, but I’m a few achievements shy. I may hunt for those last few by playing some multiplayer.
Sam Neal, @SnealIV – I have logged 9 hours into the XBLA version of Spelunky since it’s release on Wednesday and, despite having only made it through the first third of the extremely challenging game, I plan to continue my adventures. Spelunky is one of the most spirit-crushing games I have played since Dark Souls, yet I can’t seem to pull myself away.
My current gameplay stats: Deaths 243. Wins 0.
Nate Hales, @nhales80 – Hmmm, what will this weekend bring? After the Community Game Night session of L4D2, I have a newfound interest in playing that again. Maybe I can convince my running mates (Mel, Marc and Fozzy) to roll through a little co-op. My long lost cosplay friend has expressed an interest in gaming this weekend as well, so maybe some ME3MP or Diablo III. On the single player front it looks like The Last Story if I am smart and probably Star Ocean 3 because I love it. Oh, and Minecraft, always Minecraft.
Aenne Schumann, @PeachyAenne – I will be strengthening my link with my pokemon in Pokemon Conquest. I’m really hoping my magikarp will evolve into a gyarados soon. I’ve been itching to dig into my backlog and play something. Perhaps, Red Dead Redemption or Dungeon Siege III? The choices are limitless really, so I’ll just wait to see what game I pick up and play again.
Marcus Mac Dhonnagáin, @M_M_DH – I just picked up Telltale’s excellent The Walking Dead game. I’m planning on playing through Episode 2 this weekend, which will probably end up with me killing the most dangerous predator on the planet – man! Other than that I might also replay Lair of the Shadowbroker in preparation for when I finally manage to purchase Mass Effect 3.
Richard Hayden, @HaydenOnP2R – Having spent the past week on sojourn in the Greek Islands (stomach infection an optional extra) I’ve fallen behind on my Mass Effect 3 replay. First, I’ll see if I can tickle that along a little further and, when I’m not doing that, I’ll be sorting through all those ancient games I bought from Gog.com last month, slowly trying them out. The Last Express and Alone in the Dark are both ominous gaps on my gaming CV. Let’s see if we can fix that.
Michael Aber, @wtf_mike – Last week I picked up Catherine, Infamous 2, and Uncharted 3 so my backlog grows even more. With Bastion completed a couple days ago I shall be getting my puzzle fix with Catherine. I also am almost done with On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness and will probably be beating that and going on to the second one soon. Also I got sent a… Scroll of Resurrection! Looks like I’ll be traveling back to Azeroth in WoW and reconnecting with my hunter Bastios.
Marc Lynch, @MarcOnP2R – I’ll be crossing the border this weekend for a short trip with family so I’ll be taking along my 3DS and Suikoden Tierkreis to keep me company. The voice acting is a little horrendous, but overall the game is fun. Other than that, I’m hoping to get in some more time with Valkyria Chronicles, Minecraft, and maybe even some Left 4 Dead 2.
