The first-person shooter is expected in 2013
Activision recently announced a new game based off of The Walking Dead, which was reported earlier by IGN.
The game is currently being developed by Terminal Reality, developers behind the recently released Kinect Star Wars, and is said to be a first-person action game. However, unlike Telltale’s episodic series, which is based off of The Walking Dead comic, Activision’s game will take place before the events of the AMC television series.
Players will be put in the role of Daryl Dixon as he and his brother Merle are sent on a “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.” Players will have a choice as to how they approach combat, by either attacking the zombies head on, or avoiding detection through stealth gameplay.
According to Activision, “No place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”
Players will also have to manage their supplies throughout the game, as things like food and ammunition are expected to be in short supply. Players will also encounter a variety of characters and will have to decide if they will accompany Daryl or not, which is to represent “some of the major decisions that will constantly be made while fighting to survive.”
The Walking Dead is expected to be released sometime in 2013 for 360, PS3 and PC. For more information, visit the game’s official site.
