Nintendo announces Bayonetta 2 as exclusive launch release
Here it is; the moment many were waiting for. E3 had passed with little mention of when gamer’s could get their hands on the Wii U, and how much of their wallet was to be emptied to obtain it. At today’s Nintendo press event, the Japanese manufacturer finally revealed those details plus numerous others. First off, when can you get it?
- North America on November 18;
- Europe on November 30; and
- Japan on December 8.
The Wii U will come in two SKUs. A Basic set, which includes an 8GB HDD, or a Premium set, which comes with a 32GB HDD. Both consoles will ship with the Gamepad, a 6.2ins touchscreen tablet controller, as well an HDMI cable, and a sensor bar (although the latter is not included in the Japanese release). The Premium set will also pack the above, but also have a charging cradle for the Gamepad, a console stand, a copy of NintendoLand, and a subscription to an unspecified Deluxe Digital Promotion. But how much will this all cost?
- North America – $299/$349
- UK – £250/£280 (prices vary)
- Europe – €299/€355
- Japan – ¥25,000 /¥30,000
The console will be available in two colors, although the choices are restricted to SKU. The Basic set will come in white, and the Premium set will be available in black. As far as accessories, Nintendo confirmed it will be selling additional Gamepads, pro controllers, and a Wii accessory pack, which includes the Wiimote and Nunchuck controllers.
Nintendo also announced Wii U TVii, a streaming service that will allow users to control their video sources from their Gamepads. Owners will be able to call up different movies and shows, and then select from what source to play the content. Sharing thoughts about what you are watching is another aspect of the service Nintendo is pushing. Those with Tivo will also be able to bring up scheduled shows and set recordings.
Nintendo announced that there are currently 50 games due to release during the launch window, which runs from November 18 to the end of March.
Games such as New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Zombi U, and Mass Effect 3 will join others on the shelves during this crucial time for NIntendo.
Nintendo also announced the exclusive release of Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U. The Platinum Games-developed title will be published by Nintendo.
