Valve discusses Greenlight updates

Discussion section gets a facelift

Valve is introducing changes to Steam‘s Greenlight that will help both fans and developers reach out to each other and also aid developers in knowing where their titles stand in popularity with the community.

For gamers, the ability to comment is modified so that each listing on Greenlight has a dedicated discussion section where players can post about concerns and questions regarding  a particular game. Previously, gathering information from fans and having conversations about a particular game was difficult because the comment section was on a single page, creating one long comments section about any number of topics and titles.

Other information is coming to developers easier as they are recieving more data on a weekly basis regarding votes for their games, as well as better status visibility for where their titles stand in the Greenlight process. There will be a graph available for developers to see the number of up-votes for each day of the past week to be compared with average votes for top-ranked games.

Also, developers in the top 100 will be able to see their numerical ranking and those below the top 100 will see their progress towards it.

Questions and comments can be made at the Greenlight discussions page and you can also join the Official Group for the latest updates.

The next update announcement will be on October 15, which will be the unveiling of the next 10 games to be greenlit.
