New skins and a gifting system added to popular MOBA
With the winter holidays coming up, League of Legends developer Riot is celebrating with a Snowdown Showdown festive game update.
This update brings new character costumes, themed items, and even a temporary gifting system.
The announcement was made through the League of Legends website, in festive rhyming verse.
“Every champ in the League, whether yordle or tall | as learned a few things about Snowdown for all. |
That there’s gifting and dancing and feasting galore, | But there’s also a Showdown each Snowdown for sure!”
The new outfits include a Snowday costume for Ziggs, a Dark Candy costume for Fiddlesticks, a Bad Santa costume for Veiger and a Slay Belle costume for Katarina. Riot is also temporarily bringing previous holiday legacy skins out of their vault for Festive Moakai, Mistletoe LeBlanc, Snowmerdinger, and Toy Soldier Gangplank.
In addition to character costumes, Riot is implementing a special gifting system that runs through December 26. The gifting system allows players to give Riot Points, skins, and even champions to people on their friends list.
Other winter items include sight wards and vision wards re-skinned as snowmen and gingerbread cookies respectively. Finally, players can also earn special summoner icons for giving gifts to friends or through the game’s reward system for good behavior.
