Legendary update will nix level cap
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be receiving some updates in the near future as Bethesda has recently announced its plans for patch 1.9.
The major new features for this patch will be a new difficulty setting as well as an improvement to character leveling. The Legendary difficulty setting will provide an extra bit of challenge for master Dovahkiin and the addition of Legendary Skills will allow players to make their skills Legendary and reset them back to 15 once they’ve been maxed at 100. This will allow characters who were previously capped at level 81 to advance further while also trying out new perks in other skill trees that they would have otherwise missed out on. The trade-off here is that when they reset a skill tree, they will also lose the associated perks.
Patch 1.9 will also fix rare crash instances, NPC respawn problems, and various issues with quests and inventory.
Skyrim players on the PC have been invited to opt in to the beta version of the update on Steam to help Bethesda work out the kinks and test out the new functionality before it goes live. Though no release date for the patch has been confirmed, Bethesda is hoping to have it ready for players by the end of March.
