However, developer says a Wii U version is unlikely
Minecraft developer Mojang has hinted that a version of its hit game may be coming to PSN, as reported by iGamer (viaEdge).
Minecraft Pocket Edition lead designer Jens Bergensten said, “Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles, when it runs out we’ll consider Minecraft for PlayStation.” It sounds as though the developer is not interested in a release of the game on a Nintendo console, however. Bergensten expressed skepticism, “Wii U is very unlikely.”
The developer is also working to bring the mobile Pocket Edition of the game up to scratch with the PC version. This includes adding dedicated multiplayer servers, so a variety of devices can mingle.
Minecraft was originally released in 2009 on PC, and has since seen release on Android, iOS, Raspberry Pi, and 360. It has won numerous game industry accolades, and continues to host a vibrant community that in turn, creates content for the game.
