Robotic Boogaloo does not mark end of Valve’s own updates, vows dev
Valve has released details for the next Team Fortress 2 update, which will include 57 new items according to the game’s official website.
Called the Robotic Boogaloo Update it is the first update to be entirely developed by the TF2 community with the new items being community-made, robotic-themed hats. Currently, the new items are only available in RobotCrates that, on June 3, will become rare drops.
According to the website, “This update is 100 percent created by the TF2 community – the in-game content, the update hub website, the animated short, the comic, even the splash images in the Steam store.
“Plus, in a first for the Team Fortress economy, all the creators of the Robotic Boogaloo Update have decided to share the revenue earned from the sale of the RoboCrate Keys. That means that everyone involved will be profiting from this update, not just the people making the hats.”
The spokesperson concluded, “This doesn’t mark the end of Valve-produced TF2 updates, by the way. As far as we’re concerned, there’s plenty of room for both to happily co-exist. We’re in uncharted territory here, and it’s exciting to be exploring it with you.”
