Heart of Thorns introduces new content, Mastery system
At PAX South in San Antonio, Texas, ArenaNet LLC president and co-founder Mike O’Brien and game director Colin Johanson announced the first expansion to the popular MMORPG Guild Wars 2. The expansion will introduce new content to the land of Tyria including the Mastery system, a new profession, and other features.
Heart of Thorns’ Mastery system will allow players who have reached the level cap of 80 to continue improving their abilities. It will also add master abilities such as hang gliding and providing other new ways of interacting with the environment.
Profession updates include specializations to the existing professions that will unlock a new weapon as well as traits, skills, and mechanics. The new Revenant profession will be able to use heavy armor and command “otherworldly powers of the Mists” according to the Heart of Thorns info page.
Other features include a new region for players to explore called Maguuma Jungle that will also include guild halls. A new PVP Stronghold game mode hints at improved strategic options and new experiences for those interested in competing.
