The newcomer enters with the gall to name his top five indie games of 2015, but to be fair, those are most of his roots
2015 was a year for a lot of great games, and the indie developer scene came out in full force. Below, Rafiq gives some details on the five indie titles that made the top of his list for 2015.

The world is in danger, and only the action heroes from Broforce can bring the fight to Vietnam, aliens, and Hell itself. 8-bit graphical gameplay plays out with fast-paced mayhem of bullets, pixelated gore, and a steady stream of explosions. Cut through your enemies using Rambro and his machine guns, or the Boondock Bros each equipped with a pair of uzis, or the chainsaw-wielding Ash Brolliams and his boomstick. The bro puns go on forever as players rescue more heroes, each with action movie unlimited ammo and capable of tearing even the landscape into tiny chunks.
You sit at one end of an ancient wooden table, with a shadowed robed figure sitting on the other end facing you. Cards dance magically around his decrepit fingers before he offers you a challenge. Build a deck filled with encounters, dangers, and rewards, and the storyteller will create a journey and quest for your character to follow. Follow the excellent narration and commentary from your storyteller, voiced by Anthony Skordi, before facing rat-faced rogues, skeletal soldiers, and human bandits in 3D action RPG gameplay. Other encounters can provide moments of rest that offer healing and blessings, or a card-based mini game that risks dangers such as curses. The game provides 12 different journeys, each with its own boss battle at the end, and each requiring a larger number of encounter cards to play. As you defeat each boss, you will be one step closer to clearing the storyteller’s challenge and making his power and influence your own.

Remember Mad Max: Fury Road, or at least the trailer? Well, Convoy brought us gameplay in a similar world where players control a small fleet of fast-moving cars, trucks, and other armored vehicles centered around a Mobile Carrier Vehicle (MCV). Target incoming raiders, privateers, and T.O.R.V.A.K. corporate soldiers while swerving to avoid wrecked vehicles and instant-kill accidents. Meanwhile, the game offers a wide world with faction zones, random encounters, and five main quests that alter slightly to offer variations in gameplay and story. It’s such a simple yet seamless bit of gameplay I can’t help but keep traveling through the wide world, seeking out the different encounters.
An impressive wide-scale spaceship simulator using a very realistic, as well as tweakable, physics engine. Build spaceships with what is available and launch astronauts as high as they can go, before hopefully landing safely on the ground or in the ocean. Using the research gained from previous launches, you can develop and purchase more advanced parts that can take the ship even further. Break the atmosphere, orbit the planet, build a space station, launch satellites, land on the moon, or maybe even on other planets. This not an easy game, or for the easily frustrated, but man is it fun to play.
Five faux-power rangers quit their studio and make their own, deciding to shoot a super sentai rangers show. Using a turn-based strategy RPG system, players control five differently colored rangers as they fight against swarms of drone enemies. The goal of the game is to make the fights acrobatic and flashy, adding in the final attack only when the time is right and it will lead to defeating the boss. Purchase or craft improved costumes with padding to better handle the enemy actor’s blows, or weapons to provide extra damage.
